Dental implants are nearly as robust as the teeth they replace.
At Dental Studio 920, the implant restoration process begins with a consultation. Dr. Sam Schmidt will sit down with you and discuss your needs and desires. We will then develop a customized treatment plan just for you.
Once we determine that you are a good candidate for dental implants, the next step is inserting the post. The post is the foundation for your new tooth (or teeth). It is placed into your jawbone during a minor surgical procedure. Once established, it will take some time to fuse with your jawbone. This process is known as osseointegration and usually takes several months.
After osseointegration, we will attach a small connector piece called an abutment to the top of the post. The abutment is a base for the attached artificial tooth (or teeth). This is a minor procedure that is usually done under local anesthesia. Later, Dr. Sam will place a natural-looking crown or artificial tooth on your abutment.
Dental implants are not just for adults – children and teens can also benefit from them.
Dental implants are a permanent solution to tooth loss, but there are times when they need to be removed. The most common reason for removing an implant is when it becomes infected.
The implant restoration requires two appointments and may not be completed in one day. At Dental Studio 920, our team is dedicated to ensuring you get the highest quality care throughout your treatment process.
Patients with healthy gums and sufficient bone structure are ideal for implant restoration. If you have any concerns about your candidacy, schedule a consultation with Dr. Sam Schmidt. He will assess your situation in person and answer any questions you may have.
In some cases, dental implants can help preserve jawbone density.
